windows vista max RAM??

Ok i have read everything here but I have 4gb and the max of vista 32 bit is 3GB but why do I get only 2301MB? How? I have vista home premium 32 bit

amd athlon 64 x2, 2301mb Ram/windows vista 32 bit. I have installed 4gb ram in my mobo

Do you have an onboard graphic card that uses the system ram as video ram?

yep. but in total it is 2.5GB ram. the onboard grafix is set to 256mb so now the ram is shown as 2.2GB ram. But the point is I can't get to 3GB ram

32bit os cannot address more than 4gb of system memory. All system components need some memory address reserved for them to function. The graphics card will also reserve system memory for it to use, aside from having the 256 mb already. Here is a good explanation:
