Second monitor resolution problem

I'm using a second monitor , the problem is when i want to change the resolution to a higher resolution its says its not possible though my video card max. VGA output is 2048x1536 but i cant even get it higher than 1280x720

im using a GeForce GTX 660 TI 2GB , both are plugged in on that videocard

Thanks. Are you using DVI, VGA (D-Sub) or HDMI to connect both monitors?
