Hi ,Advice please , i have overclocked my ram to 1866mhz using the motherboard bios , all indivual memory configures are set to auto (cas , ras etc)

CPU-Z reports based on me setting the ram to 1866 and changing nothing else for memory

( small over clock on 8350 cpu to 4.3 , using multiplier not FSB)

Dram Frequency 936.5mhz
FSB:Dram 3:14
CL 11
RAS to Cas 11
Ras percharge 11
Cycle time 28
Bank Cycle 46 clocks.....

My ram is :-

ram 16gb ballistix tactical (bg112ng.6x 206509)

1600mhz
8-8-8-24.15v (as stated on the ram chip itself)

blt8g3d1608dt1tx0 16fer ( more ram chip printed info)

My mother board is a Asus M5A97 LE R2.0

What Cl , Ras etc , numbers should i be aiming for to increase the speed.

Hi, thank you for your reply.

I have set the ram to

8-8-8-24.15v which is what is printed on the ram, the memory seems to be running fine, is that speed to fast?

To get more mhz out of the ram would I need to go lower speed than
8-8-8-24.15v?

Hi Tradesman , thank you , i have set the speed to 1866 with the original timings on the chip 8-8-8-24.15v

The chips have passed a mem test and i have been gaming with them all day , no BSOD , but based on what i have it set at the moment , what would be the next possible overclock to see if i can push it further....ideally with some kind of performance boost.....

my cpu overclock is using the cpu multiplyer leaving my timings as they are ? should i perhaps try to eek the memory to say a 1950 using the FSB ? if so , would it be best to up the voltage as you stated to 1.55 ?

Legenda in Aeternum
2133 at 9-10-10-29, 1.65 and take the CPU/NB up to 1.25 and see how that goes. If it's solid can prob drop the CPU/NB a little and maybe the DRAM voltage also. The voltages are perfectly safe. As stated if it's solid we can probably tighten things up on the timings or reduce the voltages a bit

Hi Tradesman , i have set my ram to :- 10-9-10-24 2133 , CPU/NB to 1.25 but i have left the voltage at 1.5 , it seems to be working fine at the moment.

Where do you think i could take it from here ?

Would I notice much performance improvement with buying some cl11 2400 on my amd 8350, I've spotted a cheap enough deal
For some HyperX Savage 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) 2400 MHz DDR3 CL11

My ram seems to work best at cl8 1866, so 2400 cl11 vs 1866 cl 8 (2x8).

Advice please

Hi , Since my last message , i have changed to a new motherboard , i now have a sabertooth 990fx r2.0.

As you know my ram worked perfectly in my previous mother board , basically , with this mother board to be able to run the ram at 8-8-8-24 1.55 voltage with out any fsb overclocking , i need to change a setting on the mother board , from "T1" ( its auto setting) to "T2"

is this going to affect my memory speed ? if so for better or for worse?

I can however overclock my fsb sending my cpu to 4615mhz (fear not 140xl nepton and correct voltages and stress tested to working conditions) by setting my ram to 1600 , with the FSB increase to 230 , the ram still works at 8-8-8-24 T1 at around 1850ish .

Although ideally i think i would prefere a 1866mhz no FSB overclock and use my multiply to 23.5 to achieve similar CPU overclock.

But in your opinon which is best T1 slightly lower mem clock or T2

If i use T1 settings and hit 1866 via FSB or via a standard setting of 1866 i get the error upon re-boot of " over clock error" that is in reference to the ram....

I hope you can make sense of my message !!
