If you want you could hold off 1 month and see what amd brings to the market with their r9 3xx series and then have support for getting a freesync monitor. The r9 390x is supposed to have more performance than the 980 and it will be the first card to support High stacked 3d memory. Also the r9 380x is supposed to be as good or better than the 980.

If you are going with Nvidia get a Gsync monitor. If you go with AMD then get a Freesync Monitor. Its well worth the cost.
