Keeping Busy in the IT field

I am just starting in the field of IT, and I am currently working in a helpdesk situation at a high school. I often find myself with nothing to do, and I can't find any ways to keep myself busy, or at least appear busy. If you guys could provide some tips/advice, it'd be great!
