Create bootable USB from non Windows Recovery disks

I have a set of recovery disks for an Acer Aspire One. They don't seem to be windows disks, but will write the Acer with Windows XP. I don't have a CD/DVD drive that will work with the Acer, but it will boot from USB.
I would like to take the same boot system that is on the DVDs and get that on a USB stick. All the guides online talk about copying NTLDR and windows files to the USB, but I don't think the disk software will work like that.
