Hey folks,

Need some advice on installing a G3258 chip on the motherboards. I got this CPU from amazon.in at Rs.5300 (INR). Now I am looking out for a suitable motherboard for this CPU.
The reason i am selecting H97/Z97 is coz later i can upgrade just the CPU to a Broadwell series once its out in India.

My options are:
(B85 Series)
- Gigabyte GA-B85-D3H Motherboard Price Rs. 5890
- Asus B85M-G Motherboard - Price Rs.6400

(H97 series)
- MSI H97M-G43 Motherboard - Price Rs.7800
- ASUS H97M-E Motherboard - Price Rs.8400
- ASUS H97 PRO Gamer - Price - Rs.11490
- Gigabyte GA-H97M-D3H Motherboard - Price Rs. 7200

(Z97 Series)
- Gigabyte GA-Z97M-D3H - Price Rs.9400
- MSI Z97 Guard Pro Motherboard - Price - Rs.8850
- ASUS Z97-K Motherboard - Price Rs.11,140

(Prices from flipkart India)

Need answers in the following areas:
1. Do I need to flash the BIOS if i select H97/B85 boards to install the CPU
2. My personal choice goes to ASUS, but would if anyone has experience with Gigabyte / MSI in terms of Overclocking, Sturdiness, Quality.

Please help as I am stuck with the options.

no not all Motheboards require Bios update to work with the g3258, you can check each mobo individually in there respected sites.
Check Cpu support list.

For motherboard i always TEnd go with Asrock/Asus or Gigabyte.
i had 3 Msi boards fry on me for no apparent reason, stopped buying them after that.

if you willing to spend that much on a h97 board you might as well just go Z97, there similar in price between the two asus, personally i'd get the GA-B85M-D3H and overclock the g3258 to 4.2-4.5hz and call it a day.

Hey Raiin,

thanks for the reply but B85, H81's will not be compatible for the Broadwell CPU's. Coz a year later i will be upgrading my CPU to a Broadwell series chip
