I recently bought a GTX 770, refurbished for $250. 2GB, 256bit, great core and memory speeds.

Question: Should I trade it in for a GTX 960, brand new for $200, 2GB, 128bit, even better core and memory speeds than 770.

Kicker: I'm concerned about the lesser memory interface of the 960, BUT I'm on an older motherboard (socket 1366, X58 chipset) and older CPU (i7-940) and still using PCI-E 2.0. Would it be a downgrade to get the 960 with lesser memory interface on my system or would the higher clocks of the 960 be an upgrade?

P.S. I'm not planning on upgrading CPU or motherboard. I play Counter Strike:GO, StarCraft II, various Blizzard games and Bioshock series. Thanks for feedback!!

I would keep a gtx 770 over a 960 if I allready paid for it. GTX 770 is faster might not be by much but it is.

I have a reference model 770 by Nvidia, so stock core clocks are around 1050 and 1080 boosted. I'm seeing core clocks for the 960 by ASUS and MSI boosted to 1200. Much faster!
I'm concerned about the memory interface at a lower 128bit but would this matter on my older motherboard?

Look at all the benchmarks the gtx 770 is faster then a 960.

I understand now, faster in benchmarks not necessarily clock speeds. Thanks! I'm going to stick with my gut and stay with the 770.

You are correct, it benchmarks better almost across the board and I have plenty of watts to handle the power consumption. Thanks for quick feedback!!

Yeah, the gtxx 770 is still a good card, Might be limted by 2gb of vram but I haven't had any issues in games like farcry 4 @1080 ultra settings.

From what I've read, 2GB will be okay as long as you're running 1080p. Current benchmarks show more than 2GB is needed only for above 1080p and 4k gaming.

The real question I have is how long will 2GB be good for 1080p before games take more.
