Nobilis Nobleview monitor color calibration

I've got a Nobilis 1280x1024 @ 75Hz monitor that I brought back from the dead the other day, and just looking at it for a while hurts my eyes. I see that there's a sharpness, RGB gain, brightness, and contrast control options. I am in kind of a bright room, and I don't really know what any of those settings do. Which do any of you recommend?
