My computer will only start if I have a ram chip in the DIMM 1 slot, and it also will not start if I have a chip in the 2nd or 4th slot. Ive tried to put them in one at a time, in a different slot each time and it will only start up if there is one in the 1st slot. I have 2 2gig chips in right now and looking to add 2 more, but I dont want to spend the money on them if they wont work. There isnt any visible damage to the slots as far as I can see. Any ideas on a soluton to this?

Specs:

Please let me know if any other information will be helpful or any questions. Thank you!

If you could let me know the correct system model name and number that'd help. Also try installing the in DIMM 3, see if that works.

Ive tried it in DIMM slot 3, just failed to type that in the post. The specs provided are straight from my msinfo32 file. Its a prebuilt computer by HP, model: HP Pavilion a6750y

Could you let me know the specs mentioned on both the memory modules?

Where might I find that information? Is it written on the sticks themselves?
