Hi all,

I intend to build a PC for software development purpose where Java/Eclipse/Application Server/MySQL will be used, as well as couple of VM will be needed. Also might need iOS/Android development environment and Visual Studio will be installed. So as you see, it the PC should handle heavy software like above.

I opted for below configuration.

  • CPU Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core £244.94
CPU Cooler Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing £25.44
    Motherboard Asus Z97-A ATX LGA1150 £110.39
    Memory G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 £61.00
    Storage
    1. Sandisk Ultra Plus 128GB 2.5" SSD £47.43
    2. Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM £35.94
Video Card Gigabyte GeForce GT 730 2GB £45.80
Case Corsair 200R ATX Mid Tower £43.48
    Power Supply Corsair 600W ATX12V £56.39
    Wireless Network Adapter TP-Link TL-WDN4800 802.11a/b/g/n PCI-Express x1 £25.74
Case Fan Corsair Air Series SP120 High Performance Edition (2-Pack) 62.7 CFM 120mm £19.00
It's coming up at with total of £715.55. Plus Win7 OS license will be needed.

Any advice will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your reply, I chose the corsair psu as it's very highly rated everywhere and one of the best rated in bronze. Are you suggesting I go for gold or platinum?

Admirable
You don't need gold or platinum, it's that psu that's bad. Don't trust user reviews. Low end corsair psus are very bad quality. Those reviews are done after like 2 weeks, while the psus still perform good. I would get an xfx 550w.
