How will this configuration fare for advanced video editing? I plan on running DaVinci Resolve in a Linux or Windows environment, editing/color correcting DSLR footage, maybe raw cinema files (potentially from the Black Magic workflow)... First stab at building a PC, so any input is welcome. Very good chance I'm going to need more of everything.

Also, I'm not sure if the cpu cooler I selected is compatible, so if people have an alternative I'm all ears.

Motherboard: MSI A78M-E35 Micro ATX FM2+ Motherboard ($56.99 @ SuperBiiz)

It's amazing to me how far tech has come since I last had an editing workflow back in 2010... Just curious how much further (aka cheaper) it can be pushed and still be usable.

Thanks!

This is much better though the budget wouldn't stretch to an ssd. The extra 2 processing threads will help with all your work and the GPU will also give extra processing power

You could swap out the GPU for something like an r7 240 or GT 730 (make sure they are versions with GDDR5 not DDR3 vram) and use the savings for an ssd.

Its a GT 730 and the r7 240 cost much more for gddr5. Don't forget this build is not for gaming Nikos K.

Also, the 4460 will not work well with that ASUS motherboard which is why it has 3 stars. And no, a BIOS update won't fix the problem, its why I went with the 4440 which is still a very good cpu, there's only 100mhz difference and it seemed worth it for an otherwise decent motherboard.

Wow, Plywrlw... Your builds are incredible. Wipes the floor with my attempt. And I definitely factor in mail-in rebates, so no worries there. Should I consider a beefier graphics card if I'm dealing with RAW footage in timelines/color grading, or will the GeForce 730 be fine?

Thanks for helping me out with this.

Certainly don't bother going higher than a gtx 750ti and from reading around, nvidia cards seem to be better supported by older versions photoshop so maybe stick with nvidia if you use an older version.

Happy to help :)
