Hey everybody

I was just randomly thinking, is it possible to maybe turn off 7 cores on the AMD 8 core cpus and use the power for better single-threaded programs. I don't actually have that cpu but its just a thought. Some games I heard are only optimized to use 1 core instead of 4 or 8 and that's why everybody says Intel is better for gaming, but if u take a behemoth of a cpu that has power for 8 cores and combine in all into 1 core that would surely outperform an Intel cpu.

Any input is appreciated!

Theoretically, if you turn off 7 out of 8 cores it will save on 7/8 amount of heat, this isn't true but still if you done that you could overclock that single core alot higher than all 8 in one unit I would say to get a higher core performance on that single core.

No. The power density will still be too much for the single core ant it will burn out. Running a car on one cylinder will not allow you to get significantly more power out of that cylinder. She canna' handle it, Jim :)
