can a ASUS strix gtx 960 work with ASUS gtx 760 for 3 monitor setup?

So I am going to buy a ASUS m51ad with gtx 760. but I want a 3 monitor setup so i was thinking about adding a ASUS strix gtx 970 for Nvidia surround , can it work? Or should I buy another gtx 760. Thanks in advance

No. You can't mix different cards.
You can only add another GTX 760 with the same VRAM as your one.

I'm guessing you already have the 760? My advice would be just it on that until you can afford a card better than the 960, as you are buying a similar card performance wise. Save up for a 970 or R9 290X.

BUT will the gtx 760 be able to handle 3 monitors? by the way the 760 is 4GB

You can run as many monitors as you can plug into the thing.

Just make sure and check that if you go SLI, u won't be able to use the 2nd card ports (most times). Like my 780s in sli, I had to use 2 of the dvi ports and one hdmi port on top card only to run 3 monitor setup.

I SLI cards with different Vram. I used a program called cool bits to get my old 660ti 2gb and 660ti 3gb to Sli.

I thought you could SLI with differing VRAM, just it would default to the lowest one.

You Can SlI The Same Card With Different Vram And It Will Scale Down To The Lowest VraM. I Had To Use A Software Called Coolbits To Get Them To Work. For Me It Was A Hassle At Times One Would Work And The Other Would Sit In Idle. But Most Of The Time They Worked For Half Of My Games. Will Never Try To SliCards With Different Vram It Works But Not Smooth.
