Not a solution but a question:

I also have a similar set up and was trying to find out how I would do running the game. How is your single player performance and what kind of frames do you get at what setting level?

I may be able to help I have 2 evga 660ti sc+3gbs, an intel 3770k at stock speed currently, 8gb ram, and an overclockable 1440p monitor dsr'd to 3840x2160. I've mainly been testing games focusing on 4k and framerate because with the newer games I can't do extra graphic effects like ambient occlusion or even good antialiasing sometimes or else the game drops to 30 fps or lower. On dying light I get 40-50 fps dsrd to 4k with card based AA and maybe one other low resource using effect. For some reason the game runs at about the same fps at 1080p on ultra only with more... I forget what it's called stuttering? when parts of the screen don't update. I had hoped it would run it better on ultra without 4k.

Would you happen to know what kind of power supply 980s in sli require? Or I actually have the same question as the op I've been thinking about upgrading and waiting for the 980 8gb or ti versions. Also would those things effect their power requirements if you have any idea?
Edit: Also I miss having an accessory monitor and would like to run that again its just at like 1280x960 or something and most games don't like it.

Each 980 requires about 171w. A good 500w psu is fine for one, a good 650w for 2, but you can go to 750w if you want some headroom.

The 780ti/titan replacement chip will likely be around 200-250w each. Likely to be the GTX 1080 or named something like that.
