AMD FX-9590 8-Core 4.7GHz with Corsair H100i Cooler

I have just build a new PC and my CPU temperature is about 36C idle/40+C working.
I was wondering if that is the normal temperature for the latest AMD-FX?
I have not overclocked the system yet. Just want to make sure to protect the CPU's temperature first before I do it...

You will be fine with that cpu cooler. I have seen a large majority of people with that chip using that cooler, and even overclocking. I've seen up to 5.5 ghz with it, but that is definitely an extreme. I recommend going up to around 5-5.3 for maximum performance and best stability.

Yup that's definitely normal. Good even. When overclocking, make sure to keep the socket temperature below 70C and the CPU temperature below 62C.

yeah, i have the same cpu, and plan on getting the h100i [gtx?] myself. 65 is the recommended temp limit, and 70 is basically your max from what ive read.

H100i is a good cooler.
You should be able to hit 5GHz without a problem.

No it's noise junk. You cant hit 5Ghz stable on that cooler or CPU. Even 9590s are not stable at that clock.

Really? I've got a friend with FX-9370 hitting 5.0GHz with Corsair H100i.

I forgot to mention 5.0GHz STABLE!

well, from what i keep seeing online, it is REALLY hard to get it stable, but yes, people have done it. and as for the cooler, ive also seen people go back and forth saying either its good or its shitty, so i went to look at actual professional tests and reviews, and they all said its at least a decent cooler.
