need a decent inexpensive monitor

hi all! i'm looking to switch from a 42" led tv to a monitor for gaming and i'm a bit swamped with choice! so what is want is 1080p or higher with the highest refresh rate possible, i prefer 24" to 27" and brand doesn't matter as long as the quality is good. i'm looking to spend $250 or less, much less than that if possible. thanks guys!

I use ASUS monitors when I'm trying to save some money for a reliable monitor. I have a few 24" and one 27" and they haven't failed me yet. You can check them out here (24") and (27")

i've seen some that seem decent and have a 1-2ms response time, what about that acer 1ms 144hz model? any word on it?

I personally don't know much about those models. The reviews look pretty solid so people seem to be happy with them, but also very pricey. The two I was looking at are here.

thanks, that first acer for 250 is the one i'm looking most at, though there is a similar benq for the same price on amazon, is benq a better brand

I would have to say that for the most part the brands are personal preference. I wouldn't consider any of the major brands to really have any serious differences other then the experiences people have with them. I see more Acer monitors around the BenQ so if I were to pick one I'd go with the Acer.
