My current PC Is getting a little outdated so I've decided to start building my own. This is my first time building a gaming PC (I've built PC specifically for non-gaming purposes before though) I have everything picked out, I just want to know if this set up will run all/most games on the highest settings or not. Plus, a question about the cooling.

Motherboard: ASUS Z97-A
CPU: i7-4790k
Video card: Gigabyte GTX 970 4 GB 256-bit GDDR5
RAM: Crucial Ballistix Tactical 16GB DDR3 1866
Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA 850 G2

I was planning to get a RAIDMAX Vampire case.

So my first question is will this run most games on the highest settings? And my second question is should I use water cooling? Right now I'm planning to get a Corsair H110 water cooler.

I don't see anything wrong with that. It will game at max settings (depending on the game and the monitor's resolution). But it will be a rare game that you'd have to lower settings on. The GTX 980 would be the best insurance for max settings in ALL games. Crysis 3 comes to mind. Of course even that will depend on your tolerance for frame rates below 60 FPS. Myself, I'm satisfied with 30+.
