FM2 socket vs AM3

This is a serious question. Any advantages or disadvantages greatly appreciated. Also would like a quick rundown on AMD's A series vs FX series processors.

FX processors are generally faster than the APUs and their Athlon counterparts. Likewise, the AM3+ socket boards are better for OC'ing. And the FM3+ socket is higher up the "food chain" than the FM2+ socket for expansion.
