Is it worth buying a MacPro5,1
2x2.66 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon 8 GB of 1333 MHz DDR3 ECC 1 TB WDC WD1001FALS-41Y6A1 ATI Radeon HD 5870 HL-DT-ST DVD-RW GH61N

for $690? It's from June 2011.
For reference my current computer is a 100 dollar Zbox.

For that much you can get a new faster Windows PC with a warranty. If you must have a MAC that is probably as good as you can get for that era.

I would not spend almost $700 on a 4 yr old computer though.

If you don't care if it's Windows or MAC, the systems section has a ton of build suggestions for a given budget.

BTW, it was the right section since you were asking for a "brand" or computer, nothing wrong with it being here.
