Building new PC... Will my old operating system work?!

As in title I am building a new PC, Looking to get a completely new system (which means a fresh HDD )

I have my old windows 7 home premium DVD in my hand and im wondering can I slot this into my new PC and install windows 7 onto it?

What do I need?

If you had an OEM windows on the prior PC then it is tied to the prior motherboard. If it is a full copy of windows then you can transfer to a new system. The OEM usually comes in a white envelope while the full version usually came in it's own cd case and/or box.

Pretty sure I have OEM. Which means I cant use it with my new build?

Nope, you will have to buy another copy because the OEM version is tied to the motherboard. See the sticky at the top where it says windows 7 versions explained.
