Ok so last year i bought a external samsung 2TB HD.
Which worked fine until the power adapter started acting up.
So i decided to open it up and use the hard drive in my Synology which had a space free.

But i cannot format this drive in windows, because i am not using the adapter which was used in the external case.

Does anybody know if its possible to get this to work?
Or are you pretty sol when using these as internals?

I did this a number of times with regular SATA cables and hey allways seem to plug in like regular HDD's.

As far as i know, less theres some encryption in the adapter (dont think i ever saw that) It should run with regular SATA power cable and regular SATA data cable.

Thats what i thought also.
I am going to open up my desk and connect through onboard sata.
Maybe the esata and harddisk hub are causing the problem.
Even though i have never really had an issue with it before.

Edit : Ended up being the esata and HD hub which caused the format problems. Connecting it to the onboard sata fixed.
Should have thought of that immediately.
