I was wondering when if at all is it worth it to replace the motherboard in a laptop if it has gone bad? iv been doing small fixes for friends and family and its usually on laptops, however a few times now i believe the motherboard may have been bad and i cant seem to figure out if its worth it to them to replace the mobo or just buy a new laptop? Some of these laptops seem to cost like 400 dollars, yet the mobo replacement can be 250+ at times.
One in particular is a laptop that was purchased in 2007, running windows vista. They have the original receipts that shows it cost 1200 dollars at the time. Current motherboard replacement is 300ish dollars from what i could find.
