Solution

Yes, the GTX 970 is worth it, especially at 1080 with 144 hz if it can run these games at max with decent fps:

[strike]Corsair is not a good PSU brand to buy from. I would recommend either a Seasonic, XFX, EVGA or Antec. If you're planning to run 2 GTX 970 with the possibility of SLI and overclocking, you will need a PSU that is high quality...

Educated myself on PSUs, Corsair is known as a better PSU brand to buy from.

I'm not convinced about a single 970 being enough. I have a 780 Windforce with a decent overclock, the 780 is only 10% behind the 970. Games like Wolfenstien it only just maxs out while holding a minimum of 60fps and Advanced Warefare I have had to drop a couple of settings to ensure it doesn't drop below 60fps in game. I think Sli 970's is a good choice for 144hz.

One thing that everybody seems to have forgotten is that games may be locked to a specific frame rate, so no matter how good your PC is, it won't run the game beyond that frame rate. Even if the frame rate is unlocked, it may still be lower than you like because of bad optimisation. Black Flag and Watch_Dogs are two good examples of this.

Another consideration is that not every game supports SLI; it's entirely up to Nvidia and the developers. If they do support SLI, it takes time for a patch and new drivers to be released and there will no doubt be a few bugs to iron out when that happens. I don't want to put you off SLI, but that's how it is.

Personally, I would stick with a single GTX 970 and SLI only if you felt the performance was lacking.

Don't know where did you get educated about the corsair PSU's , also the tier list posted was outdated.
Go for anything suitable in the first two tiers and decide for yourself

By doing a quick google search and looking at the same link you posted, my friend.
