Should I buy a 720p or 1080p monitor fort my ps3?

I heard that 720p input on a 1080p screen is worse than on a 720p screen. What is the cheapest monitor i can get with hdmi, maybe dvi and a good resolution with a 720p input?

Don't the consoles have scaling chips or whatever for that? I'm pretty sure the ps3 is gonna look just fine on a 1080p screen. 720p is extremely outdated anyway. I wouldn't buy this kind of technology anymore.

I definitely need hdmi but my PC only has dvi so thats why. I just need a 16:9 screen thats either 720p or 1080p at about 60 or more Hz for the pc. But if it has no dvi the hz doesnt matter
