Response Time -- How much is too much?

I am deciding between 2 monitors. One has 4ms lag, the other has 12. The one with 12 has a lot of features that I want for my other computer, like a webcam and good speakers. Is there a huge difference when you are actually playing a game?

Do you mean input lag or response time? Those are different things. Input lag of 12ms is fine. Response time of 12ms is not fine, it will give more motion blur and ghosting.

I think I meant response time...well they call it "Frequency Response: 12 ms" in the specs. Whatever that means.

just for some info for you, any monitor that comes with built in webcam / speakers will not be optimized for gaming, FPS especially, and yes there is a big difference between 4ms response and 12ms

5ms response time is what I would target as the maximum for gaming, or at least not much more than that.

yeah the 4ms seems perfect, and the webcam n speakers on the other would be rubbish.... get externals
