So I have been doing some heavy research. I need a new rig to run Solid Works with some larger assemblies and some light rendering, some gaming can be expected too but nothing to hard core. Here is a list of the components I have researched and found to be well reviewed. Let me know if you see anything blatantly wrong with my choices or any recommendations you would like to make. Any feedback is tremendously appreciated! I have optical drives and HDD's.

Could we get a budget? I'd personally go for an FX series CPU, like a 6300 or 8300. Your GPU choice is solid, depending on your budget I'd go for a higher end card like a 270x/280x but otherwise it's solid.

I was wondering about the APU, new to me, I will take a look at CPU only chips, I will also look at the Fractal case. I will repost my new choices, thanks for the feedback so far, very constructive!

You are right Mr Sprinkles, however, I did understand that an APU uses some cores for CPU and some cores for GPU duties, what I did not understand is whether there would be any benefit of combining an APU with the graphics card, that is why I posted here for insight.

If I choose to run a 6 core 3.5 Ghz chip like the FX6300 or an equivalant Intel chip I would be able to use 6 cores for computing and my seperate GPU for graphics duties and would be further ahead than only having 4 cores for computing on the APU chip while the other 6 lay dormant. Please correct me if I am wrong.

I was looking at the Fractal cases and I think that was a very good suggestion, they are quite nice looking and receive good reviews. My query would be, currently the R4 is on sale for $40 less than the R5, in your experience is the R5 worth the extra $40.00 for my build. What if sound was not really a concern, do you have a recommendation for a case?

Again thanks for all the great feedback.
