Hi,

Was wondering if this PSU is suitable:

http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/components/powersupplies/p1-550s-xxb9.html

I have:

Intel Core i5 3450 @ 3.10GHz (Ivy Bridge 22nm Technology)
8gb DDR3 (2x4)
SAPPHIRE AMD R9 280 Graphics Card (3GB, DDR5)
Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. H61M-DS2 DVI (motherboard)
Western Digital WD10EZEX 1TB Blue Desktop Hard Drive SATA 3 7200rpm
* Plan on adding 2nd hard drive in near future - not sure what type
DVD RW / CD RW
Mouse + Keyboard USB

I never overclock and won't be running 2 gfx cards.

On several PSU calculators I try, while varying, all are between 4-500 watts.

Would this 550 be pushing it or should I go 600?

Don't want to spend much more than 50 and this PSU seems a good one as it's supposdely a rebranded Seasonic?

It's either this or the Corsair Builder Series CX 600 which I've heard the builder series aren't great. Just want to know if the 550 would be fine or 600 safer?

Thank you

For your build, 550 Watts is good enough. However, if you want to upgrade in the near future, then you should get a little bigger, like the 600. However, if you do not plan to upgrade your computer in a year, then you are good to go.

I won't be upgrading anytime soon, infact I still haven't ordered the gfx card.

Thanks for the replies guys. Just one more query, would this be as good:

I might push to £70 as I'm thinking I might get modular (I have a small case), this seems the cheapest suitable one. How does this compare with the other one? It only has 1 review there though (DOA). Or if I were to skip the modular what would be a good one for £70 or less?

thank you

Get the XTR you linked it's probably the best 550W on the market.
