Hello community,

I am trying to decide on a new monitor and with 4K becoming the new thing I am not sure I have a system that can run it smoothly maxed out.

This is what Im working with:

Intel Core i7-4770K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor
MSI Z87-GD65 Gaming ATX LGA1150 Motherboard
Corsair Vengeance 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
EVGA GeForce GTX 780 Ti 3GB Superclocked ACX Video Card (just one)
Oh and Windows 7 pro 64bit

the 2 monitors i am interested in are the ASUS PB278Q and the ASUS PB287Q which one has the better image and should i worry about 1ms vs 5ms response time?

I mainly play MMOs over FPS style games........

Any thoughts on these 2 monitors and if I can get the most out of them with what i have would be greatly appreciated. Thank you kindly!

4k is 4 times harder to drive than standard full HD(1920x1080), you will not be able to play games maxed at 4k, noone can at the moment.

You should get a 2560x1440 resolution monitor instead or an ultrawide 3440x1440 if you can afford it.

4k still sucks at the moment, until they make 4x stronger GPU's it's gonna suck for games, its usefull only for professional photo editing and 4k browsing of the internet which is all stretched and out of proportions.

That ultrawide monitor looks sweet but out of my price range for now.....so would you say the ASUS PB278Q would be good despite the 5ms response time vs 1ms response time? thanks for your reply as well......now you have me reading about LG ultra wides hehehe

The response time difference isn't a problem, there is also input lag of the monitor hardware which determines the total respon sivness of the monitor, the newer LG ultrawide are great for gaming for their low input lag so the 5ms response time isn't an issue anymore even if it is an IPS panel.

These are the best ultrawide monitors for gaming:
