My r9 285 graphics card has two inputs a red input and a black input, my monitor has a d-sub input and a white input...is ther

Solution
i suppose your gpu is XFX r9 285
XFX-Radeon-R9-285-Graphics-Card_1.jpg

Output - DL-DVI-I : 1 (black)
Output - HDMI : 1
Output - DP : 1
Output - SL-DVI-D : 1 (red)

your monitors white input is a DVI D so you have two options.!however i wouldnt know if it requires a DL(Dual Link) DVI so better prefer the black input. (DL suppors resolutions above 1200p and refresh rates above standard 60hz)
