Hi guys,
I have a 8350 on a R2 mobo with an H60 cooler and I have oced it 4.6. It runs pretty hot usually, I want to get ready for upcoming gamings like GTA V etc, and so far I have been pretty underwhelmed by my 8350 for FPS. it gets the job done, but I feel I dont utilize full potential of my 780 classified. I came across a deal of CL for a I5 3570k and asus p8z77 mobo for $150. Is that a good trade up? or should I wait another year or two and upgrade later?

Right I agree its not bad. Its decent for the money. Is there anything else I can do to increase performance. I heard disabling every second core might help single thread performance?

are your frame rates over 60? if so there's really no point. No disabling cores wont help your single thread performance. I was contemplating moving up to the I7 from my 8320 oced at 4.5 but the difference in performance didn't make sense for me. I'm waiting for more ddr4 options before making the next upgrade.

I definitely hit 60, but the lows go so low sometimes that its extremely annoying. Plus arma never breaks 28,and Assasins creed never breaks 40

those 2 games you would see an increase but Assasins creed is poorly optimized and with DX 12 coming out soon its supposed to help with more cores being used. I would personally wait to see what happens first.

Admirable
What's wrong about AC:U isn't the API used, but absolutely horrible work distribution and efficiency itself. Even if AC:U would be rewritten to use dx12, it would show no gain.

An I5 + z77 mobo for $150 is an awesome deal. You could likely sell your fx + board for $180'ish, so you'd actually make money. Only do that if you trust the seller, though.

thank you guys for taking the time to answer. Appreciate it! Ive decided to skip on this and save up for a i5 or i7 for next year, and get a second 780 if that Direct X 12 thing with double the vram shows up. :D
