Is IPS That Much Better than TN Panels?

So many people prefer to play on a faster 1440p monitor. Is a TN monitor that much worst color wise than IPS. I do know that they have fast IPS 1440p monitors but why go halfway when 4K monitors aren't that much more expensive. I don't play competitive games so I'm fine with whatever FPS the game would run since I prefer image quality and color over speed. Also I've never played on an IPS monitor before as well.

I'm thinking about getting the Asus ROG Swift 4K, IPS, 60 Hz, G-Sync monitor.

I'm already gonna spend money on either 2 Titan X, GTX 980ti/990 or 2 AMD R9 390X. I'm hoping under $1,500 US for **. I prefer 4K. I don't care about speed. Visuals is priority over speed.

I'm thinking about the unreleased **Asus ROG Swift 4K, IPS, 60 Hz, G-Sync monitor.

I expect this monitor to cost over $1,000 US. The current best Asus ROG is 144Hz 1440p G-Sync monitor.

I prefer eye candy(4K, IPS, 60Hz) over speed (1440p 144Hz IPS). But you did ask me how much money I can spend on a monitor. What was your purpose? Did you want to recommend something?

Even the best TN panels cannot reproduce colors as good as a cheap IPS panel. The point of reproducing colors accurately is so that games or graphics look like what the author's intended.

Here's an article about the monitor you are interested in

As you can see on the color page, the monitor has serious color issues at stock. They had to use expensive calibration hardware just to get it to display the basic color spectrum decently.

I would highly recommend that you look at a IPS panel instead of a TN panel if you aren't into gaming that much and prefer image quality.

Something like this seems to fit your criteria

I'm not a casual gamer. I prefer the best eye candy available on the market. I have great hopes for the Asus ROG Swift 4K, IPS, 60 Hz, G-Sync monitor when it is released.

But Asus Rog Switft is already released, and its not all that great. It costs too much and there a lot of backlight bleed. You should check out the Acer monitor i suggested to u in the previous post.

You're talking about the TN panel version.

The OP is waiting for the IPS panel version.

If you haven't given them a look I highly recommend it. IMO I think they look better than 4k because you get so much more of a viewing angle. And unless your monitor is quite large (like 40"+) the pixel density of 4k compared to 2560X1440 and 3440X1440 is not that noticeable.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

I'm also a person who likes to buy the best technology available. So there is no convincing me :)
