help new pc and monitor says no signal

Just bought a new pc and when I plugged my monitor into the computer it just displays no signal. I tried unplugging both the monitor and the pc a few times but still displays no signal. This is the monitor I was using for my old pc so it should still work. Any advice would be greaT thanks

Plug it into the graphics card. Not the motherboard.

Can you confirm that your PC boots up but theres no signal? Your monitor does not support the new graphics card resolution. If you can manage to get into safe mode try changing the resolution to 1024 x 768 or lower

There's no other place to plug in my monitor. And yeah computer is running I can hear fan on start up and lights are on.

Aeon 2000 desktop and I tried with Acer P236H and LG Flatron W2600H

Intel Core i5 4460 3.20GHz
Radeon R9 270X Graphics Card w/ 2GB VRAM
1TB Hard Drive
Windows 7 Home Premium operating system

Is the monitor plugged into the R9 270X graphics card or into the motherboard - at the back of the PC?
