Hi all.

I tried my best to find an answer before posting but nothing doing so here I am.

My situation is this:

  • I use an ASUS N550JV laptop with a GTX 750m GPU, which can support 4k.
I just bought a Samsung U28D590D 4k monitor, and connected it to my laptop via mini-displayport to displayport cable.
The U28D590D works when duplicating my laptop display at 1080p, but when I set it to be the main monitor at 4k and only display itself, as soon as I press 'ok' the screen goes black.

I have tried:

  • Ensuring my drivers are up to date - they are
Ensuring my DP connection is DP 1.2 - it is
Putting my laptop into performance mode
Plugging in my laptop to power
Telling my laptop to process all graphics from the 750m

Any ideas?

I'm using a European plug to uk adapter in a cable extension socket - would that make any difference? The monitor runs in 1080p fine though.
Thanks everyone :)

good thinking - hadn't occurred t the dp cable wouldn't work as it is brand new. I guess I'll try another as I need 60Hz. Thanks

So did it work at 4K60Hz?
Somebody told me that the mDP in this model is 1.1a. How do you check the mDP version? Thanks !
