Can the GTX 970 2-way SLI Handle 3 x 1080p Monitors?

I've decided that for my computer a 3 x 1080p monitor setup would be ideal. However I've just read that 2-way SLI'd GTX 970s might not be ideal for this setup. I'm looking to play games at high to ultra graphics settings and get around 60 FPS from them, so my question is, is that possible with 2 GTX 970s? If not, should I just go for a single 1440p monitor then? It wouldn't be as ideal, but I'd prefer to have high quality images, rather than settling for lower graphics settings in games.

As a side question, I've heard that a 27" screen with 1080p is a bad decision since the resolution wouldn't look as good on such a large screen, so what's the best size for a 1080p screen?

If anyone can answer any of these questions, that'd be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

it is all a matter of opinion really and how good your eyes are lol

when i play destiny on my 1080P monitor i can see some pixles when im zooming in with the sniper etc im on 23.6 inchs which is around 96~ ish PPI

but everything elss is OK 27 inch might be my personal limit for 1080P

i plan on buying a 25 inch 1440P monitor should get me around 128~ PPI

IMO here is my opinion 24 inch 1080P looks good

27 inch 1440P

32inch and above 4K

now about your GPUs 2 way 970s will handle 3 1080P monitor depending on the game and if you're ok with turning off the AA seriously the AA will eat your GPU up for breakfast if u don't turn it down

and it can also handle 1440P with out a problem

For the side question, I would go with a 24" Monitor. Not to big or to small and they usually come with great resolutions. (I have a 24" BenQ GL2460HM that I would highly recommend to anyone who wants a nice monitor on a budget.) For the question about the 970's on 3 monitors, If you are using 3 monitors I would get a 1080p monitor. If you want to run at 1440p go with 2 monitors or just 1. :)

I agree with turning off the AA but I wouldn't recommend running 3 1440p monitors. It will do fine with 1 or 2 but I think it's a little risky to buy 3 1440p. :)

970 sli wont handle 2 1440P monitors like cake hell why play on 2 1440P monitor it will look awkward as hell

this is just my opinion but im a PPI freak so i would stick with a single 1440P as i hate the boarders but if you're gonna get a slim bazel 3 1080P monitors why not?

this is the monitor that i plan on buying if the funds allow not too big not to small and lots of PPI http://www.amazon.com/Acer-G257HU-smidpx-25-Inch-Widescreen/dp/B00QS0AKVK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1429057800&sr=8-1&keywords=25+inch+1440P

That's what I'm saying XD I reccomend 3 1080p but if he wanted he could run 2 1440p

As someone who games on 3x1200p monitors I am quite the fan. It does add significantly to the immersion for me (it's a personal thing - no question about that). The borders I don't find to be a big issue as I usually look at the middle monitor, I find if I want to see something in my periphery I usually turn my virtual head in the game rather than physically turn my (real) head to look at a side monitor. It's filling the periphery vision that adds to the feeling of immersion. (edit: because you're looking straight ahead the whole time the bezels remain in peripheral vision and don't become a big issue -> totally my subjective opinion btw).

Having said all that, with VR seemingly getting pretty close... maybe end 2015 or first half 2016, I wonder about the sense in making significant investments in gaming monitor setups right now. 3 Screens for productivity is great too (that's primarily why I bought my screens in the first place), so if you have a use for that too it would make sense. But a $500+ investment in screens for gaming when VR is (hopefully!) less than 12 months out is a questionable investment for me.

Just my thoughts of course... others will no doubt see it differently!
