I tried to post a legit thread before but apparently it wouldn't let me because it had short searchable phrases. I posted this on the World of Warcraft forums and I'm trying to find out if this is a great rig. The builder wants 2900 for the rig. http://prntscr.com/6zd65i

Yeah, if you're talking $2900 USD, god no, that's a ripoff. Even in Canadian dollars or Australian, it's still far too high priced. Country determines if the price is good or not.

For the United States, that's an outrageous price. Here is something FAR FAR better, for the same price.

Your add up of costs does not account for the cost of labor. How much do you think a persons labor for building the computer would be. I.E. How much would you charge if you were in the business?

The thing is, I wouldn't charge much at all. Assuming you can ship the parts to a business, I wouldn't expect it to be more than $40, if it's expensive. Assembling my PC took me and my dad 2 hours, and both of us are inexperienced. An experienced person could probably do it in an hour, so it would not cost much, cause there are no parts necessary, no special tools, and it only takes a short time.

This is what I could do it for but I live in California...
Materials: $1800 -- same materials as the list
Build: $200

So he should not be charging more than $2100. Unless you went through a company...

Ship: $50

If I did It from Cali there is also the shipping time. So find some other company that uses a better ssd and processor.

Good luck.

I'm assuming the OP has a tiny little bit of tech knowledge, and knows how to do that himself. From the local PC shop near my house, the guy charges around $40, assuming nothing goes wrong. It's an extra $20-$30 if you want him to install everything, but you don't have to.

Thank you all for your answers. It means a lot to me. I have deduced that almost every small business in the world is out to kill me.

You consider this to be much better than what I'm being offered by the builder?

Better, and also far cheaper. That OP is ripping you off super hard, plus his build really wasn't all that balanced.
