Gaming in 720p @HD vs gaming in 1080p @720p

I want to know :

Will i get same performance when gaming @ 720p in a monitor with 1280×720 as its native resolution and gaming @720p in a monitor with 1960×1080 az its native resolution?

Considering all visual settings are same in both the cases

yes, but I don't see why you would use a 1080p monitor in 720p

Yes when you downscale from a 1080p monitor to 720p it actually gets worse in performance.

Always try to stay with native resolution.

Ive r9 270x i m buying a 1080p monitor since (already have a 768p though) i will be buyinhg new card like r9 290x or better in future.
since my card can max out most of the games at 720p so im asking if im playing at 720p in a monitor which has 1080p resolution

No you will be playing at 1080p resolution will not be maxed out at settings if you want to keep it at 60 fps

Again, you can set the resolution of most games to a lower resolution than the native resolution of the monitor, it just might look a little weird.

With a R9 270x you might be able to get good performance even in 1080p on a lot of games.

As long as the 1080p monitor support 720p resolution, you can play it at 720p.
With the same GPU, playing on lower resolution will be faster not slower.

yes with a 4k monitor, if you set the resolution to 720p, the performance would be the same as with a native 720p monitor.
