This is the first time I have ever used a Cathode Ray Tube monitor, normally I would be using LCDs and LEDs.
However, when I get into the OSD, I encounter menus that are shapes (squares, rhombuses, trapeziums, pararellograms, squares inside squares, squares with arrows in them, weird shapes, funny shapes, etc.) like Ancient Egyptian Language, and values only in percent and numbers.
The OSD is not very self-explanatory. I only know the sun being the brightness, EXIT is ext, MAGNET is degauss, the half moon is constrant, that is it.

This is the picture of my OSD: http://i.imgur.com/45c8SbE.jpg

What i would like is an explaination of each ..."thingy", what they are for and when will i need them.
Thanks a lot.

They're ways of fixing various distortions, so that your desktop takes up the whole of the display but doesn't go over the edges. For example, if it's too narrow or too wide, you'd use the third one on the top.

Just have a go with each of them; it should be pretty obvious what they do.

Thank you for the quick answer. I've just tried it, trying pretty much explains it all.
But I still don't know what the symbol: http://i.imgur.com/wjfSBTO.png means. (that is the only thing I have no idea what it means at all).

Also, is it okay if I mess around with this settings? will I end up damaging the monitor? I'm worried because it is the only CRT monitor I've got and they are very hard to find nowadays. I consider it as antique and don't want to break it. (I was very nervous when I tried them)
