My Monitor Isn't Getting A Signal From My Computer, First Build

I didn't know where else to put this, under motherboards, GPUs, or monitors, so I just put it here. So I'm putting together my first build and I have installed the motherboard/GPU/CPU/RAM/CPU Fan, storages, optical drives, and PSU in the case so far. I've connected all cables to where my motherboard's manual said they were supposed to go, and plugged everything into the PSU that needs to be. The computer turns on and the GPU fans turn on, I'm pretty sure that all the fans turned on last night too. The optical drive works as well, but when I plug in my monitor to my GPU with the D-Sub cable I get a notification from the monitor that say 'no signal'. I have checked all of the standoffs on the motherboard again and none are shorting it out, though I did have to remove one before I placed the motherboard in because it didn't line up with it. I have no idea what's wrong, and no matter what I do I can't get a signal. Im nearly positive that I've installed everything on the motherboard correctly, I've checked many times to be as sure as possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I really don't want to take it to an IT guy..
