I am a slightly new technician. I work in IT for a university but not in the desktop sector of the school. I am a Service Desk Analyst and I want to advance through the IT chain and am just starting to work on getting my A+ certification and want to design a PC build that is relatively cheap. I have picked out some parts and would greatly appreciate your guys help in telling if these parts are decent or what your thoughts are. Also when I plug these parts into PC Part Picker it says my wattage is at about 289, what is the standard for picking out a PSU that would go with this ? I was thinking like 500-600 dollars in spending for now and hopefully upgrading later. As far as I understand I could add a SSD later on correct ? This PC is more for technical experience but defiantly some gaming/media and everyday use for school and work. I am trying to keep the price range in between $500-700.

Processor - AMD FX 6300

Motherboard - ASUS M5A97 LE 2.0

Hard-Drive - Seagate Barracuda - 3 TB

Video Card - ASUS R7250X-2GD5, R7 250X 2GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0

Ram - Corsair Vengeance Blue 8GB

Case - Tentatively the BlackHawk ATX Mid Tower Case

Let me know what you think and what your suggestions are. Also around what wattage my PSU should be! I greatly appreciate your guys help!

Hi what I mean by gaming/media is that I have played computer games in the past (not recently) but would like to have a system that will suffice at least mid range PC games. As far as media goes , playing high quality movies which I know does not require that much. I need something pretty fast as run multiple applications at once and hate a computer with lag.

Not necessarily but I do a lot of downloading, 3 TB is a ton though. I really like the build you've picked out obviously the major difference is the AMD vs. Intel based CPU chip.
