Monitor- Motherboard Compatibilty

I recently bought a Asus VG248QE and was wondering how this would work with my motherboard.
I have a MSI Gaming 5 mobo and was wondering if it supported DVi Dual-Link. I do not have my graphics card yet so this will have to last me for a week or two.

Yeah it should work OK. You could just use HDMI though.

Yes, this motherboard will support this monitor, however you may want to look into a dedicated graphics card in order to take advantage of this monitor's high refresh rate.

As Sammyjo says you'll want to use the HDMI if possible, the manual shows the DVI port as a DVI-D supporting only 1920x1200 at 60Hz.

Expanding on bistwo's point, If you're planning on gaming or heavy processing like Bitcoin mining or Video processing, get a graphics card. Just because it's a 'Gaming' motherboard, doesn't mean it can game out of the box without a dedicated GPU.

My GPU- GTX 970 is coming in next week, but I wanted to know if the monitor would be able to work with my motherboard. The monitor says that it is DVI dual-link so will it work with my mobo or will I have to use HDMI?

It's best to use HDMI but you can use any

That monitor also has HDMI and Displayport so you can use the HDMI, the board's DVI port is only single link and would be limited to 1920x1200 @ 60Hz.

+1 for Grimwinder - It's so much better to use DP or HDMI than DVI. Much newer technology.
