Hi Guys,

So, I'm getting a new monitor and I am debating on whether to get a 1080p 144Hz monitor, or a 1440p 60Hz monitor... So, I just wanted to get a lot of people's personal opinion on what they prefer.

The two monitors in question so far are;

ASUS PB278Q - http://www.amazon.co.uk/PB278Q-Widescreen-Multimedia-2560x1440-DisplayPort/dp/B009668YPM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1432664896&sr=8-1&keywords=ASUS+PB278Q

and the Acer Predator XB270HAbprz - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Acer-Predator-XB270HAbprz-Monitor-Displayport/dp/B00LX2J17W

For anyone wondering, my PC specs are as follows;

Intel i5 4460 3.4GHz
EVGA Superclocked GTX 970 ACX 2.0
16GB DDR3 Ram
Corsair 650w PSU
Barracuda 1TB HDD

I am actually planning on getting a second identical GTX 970 before the end of the year to run SLI.

I play FPS games, like CoD and Battlefield but I don't think the casualness, if that's a word, of my gameplay really warrants a 144Hz Monitor. I'm NOT a Competetive CS:GO Player.

I play games much more like GTA 5, Witcher 3, Skyrim, Dying Light, Borderlands etc...

But for now, say up to a year, will the one 970 be enough to power the 1440p resolution?

You wont be able to max it but it'll be able to play on there.

It's not a word, it's a lifestyle.

But in all seriousness, for the single-player titles go 1440p all the way. Even a single card does really well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oq-E0vr2LoA

Alright, and this is probably a stupid question, but surely I can still play my games at 1080p on this monitor if a game isn't quite hitting my wanted graphic level at 1440p?
