Is 5 ms GTG IPS bad for gaming?

I found a good deal for a 23.8" Asus IPS monitor that has 5 ms GTG. Even though I will mainly use for web browsing/video editing, I also like to play games (competitively), First person shooters, being one of the genres I like.

I heard 5ms GTG is really like 8 ms. Will it be noticable and bad for gaming?

I wouldn't say "bad". I doubt you could tell the difference between 1ms and 5ms on an IPS monitor.

The biggest problem would be ghosting but at 5ms it wouldn't be as noticeable. If anything you would be fine, very few people can notice the difference.
