Will upgrading to windows 10 delete all my files? and where will it be released?

Microsoft will release Windows 10 in late July. When you upgrade, Your old files and os will be put in a folder called windows.old.

What about the installed programs like Microsoft office?

My mom's laptop had office and when the os was reinstalled and office was redownloaded, I could not reactivate office. I need the receipt email to create a dispute to activate it. That is why I will not buy Microsoft office. Openoffice is free and just as good.

Installed programs will all remain intact and useable (barring any compatibility issues with Windows 10 of course). The upgrade process does not destroy them.

A fresh install would remove everything you have. But an upgrade like you're talking about leaves everything you put on there in a separate folder in the c drive I believe.
