Why is my 1080p monitor locked at 1024x768

Recently my 1080p gaming monitor - http://www.iiyama.com/gb_en/products/prolite-ge2488hs-b1/

Switched from displaying full 1080p to randomly displaying an aspect ratio of 1024x768?
I have updated my graphics driver, my card is a Nvidia GTX 970 4GB but it still hasn't change back to 1080p, and when I go into my display settings the native resolution of this monitor is 1024x768 even though it is a native 1080p monitor?

What type of cable are you using to connect? I don't see an INF file on the website to help identify it to windows.

I'm using a micro HDMI cable as my card is the Palit Editon of the GTX 970

One thing you could try is making sure your monitors settings (on the monitor itself) are set at the correct settings.

Yeah I've tried that also, i'm starting to think I may have moved the monitor and broke the HDMI connector ??

That graphics card has a DVI port. Have you tried a DVI cable?

No I haven't, I don't know if I have one though. And doesn't DVI give a worse picture quality than HDMI or am I misunderstanding ?

No, a broken cable would never do this, it's all digital data that is being transferred and either works properly or not at all. Perhaps the monitor is sending a improper EDID.

So are there any ways I can try to fix this issue and return my monitor to full native 1080p from its current 1024x768 aspect ratio, without the use of a new / different cable ?

hi. connect ur pc via vga or others port. im sure solved ur problem. last day im faced same problem. ur hdmi port is something porblem or broke.

HDMI is digital, so there is no way a broken port or cable could cause a lower resolution. It either works, or does not. It won't accidentally send a false resolution in the EDID. One thing he can do is just set a custom resolution and see how his monitor displays it.
