According to Microshaft Windows 10 requires CPUs that have support for PAE, NX, and SSE2
However I ran CPU-Z on my 965 and NX is not showing.
It also does not mention PAE but I think it works with the 965
(I haven't checked my other computer with the FX8350 yet but hoping it will be fine)

This is the information from CPU-Z
Processor 1 ID = 0
Number of cores 4 (max 4)
Number of threads 4 (max 4)

So does this mean millions of CPUs (and motherboards, etc) are now obsolete??

I want to add this excerpt from a ZDNET article

" Download and run a handy utility called CPU-Z. Look under Instructions and if you see SSE2, EM64T (indicates the processor has support for PAE) and either VT-d or VT-x (which is what's needed for NX support) then you're ready to rock.

Manually check out your CPU by wading through this list. This will tell you directly if the CPU supports NX, and it will be listed as "NX / XD / Execute disable bit".

NX can be a pain in the behind because while your processor might support it, it could be disabled in the system BIOS, which then means having to dig around looking for the on switch."

Maybe Wintel found a way to kill their competition?

VT-d and VT-x are Intel technologies; the AMD equivalent is AMD-V and IOMMU. The processor shouldn't be an issue, but your motherboard could. If your system runs Windows 8.1, then it should have no problems with Windows 10. There should be a No-eXecute setting in the BIOS (or whatever it's called by your motherboard's manufacturer).

You could use Coreinfo to check your CPU: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/cc835722
