As a side note, I'd prefer a monitor that isn't overly glossy. I don't like to see myself in it while I'm trying to game.

Also, dead pixels have become somewhat of a fear to me since I started reading about these monitors. I've been lucky in that I've never had a dead pixel and I hope that luck continues. I wouldn't be opposed if anyone knows of a vendor that offers a dead pixel testing before shipment. Thanks. :)

I would suggest the Crossover 2795 QHD, since it has an overclockable AH-IPS panel and it is delay free.

It is as good as it gets for a 27' 1440p monitor on this budget , but you need Dual Link DVI, and it is single input.
If HDMI is eseential or you generally need a multi input screen, see the LG 27MB85R.

It has excellent colour presets, a matte grey bezel, low input lag and fast pixel response times. The LG does not use PWM Dimming too. Its Dell and Asus competitors are not so good, since they use frameless panels with black inner bezels that ruin the percieved black depth (or glossy black bezels with the same result).

For a cheaper delay-free alternative, chek the Asus PB278QR.

It has worse color presets than both monitors above.
