Ok so I have toiled away on pc part picker for a while selecting builds centered around AMD and Intel parts respectively! as the PC is a workstation the main focus is speed and multitasking with good but not overboard graphics capabilities. my budget right now is £1,000. i haven't selected peripherals / monitors because i already have these from my current PC. And i'd appreciate you pointing out parts/things i might have missed when selecting them if you want to. the other parts are similar because the focus is on the main hardware (cpu, gpu, motherboard)

INTEL BUILD: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/jN3fcf

thanks to all in advance for the help! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

P.S.: i'm not sure if this is the correct category for this thread (systems) so please notify me if it needs to be moved cos one of my threads was moved last time when i was new to the site

I would go with the AMD build. Although the Intel build has a better CPU, the AMD build has a better GPU, and the FX-9590 is already good enough to not bottleneck. The FX 9590 is already really good. The AMD build will have better performance in terms of graphics performance (It will have great overall performance also). Both are solid builds, but I would go with the AMD build. The only criticism is the quality of your power supply. Refer to this link for more information:http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html.

The 9590 is not good, and is acutally pretty bad. It loses to an i5 in gaming, but also loses to a Xeon 1231v3 an i7 4770 at a similar cost. OP, If you don't want to OC, get an Xeon 1231v3 and an h97 board. Also look into an XFX 550 psu.
