Acer monitor momentarily loses source connection

My Acer monitor sometimes loses its connection to the source (DVI) which causes the screen to go black for a moment. Then it reconnects and I'm able to see Windows and whatever I was doing before the screen went black and it shows a big DVI source notice on the top of the screen.
Sometimes it goes berserk and reconnects 3-5 times in 10 seconds.
It's very annoying when I'm playing games as it causes me to not perform as well as I should be.
If anyone have any suggestions please tell me!

Check the connection of the cable and make sure it's screwed in all the way. If that's fine, try update your drivers. I've had it (AMD) where my drivers crash randomly and my screen goes back, but it fixes itself in a few seconds.

Didn't do the trick, perhaps slight improvement, but hard to say with the brute randomness of the occurences of the problem.
