DVI port not picking up second monitor

Okay so, a while ago I had a simple 1440x900 VGA monitor which worked perfectly but I wanted to upgrade to 1920x1080. I bought a 1920x1080 monitor but found out that they were both VGA and my GPU (Radeon HD 6670) only supports one VGA port, a HDMI port and a DVI port, with this information I bought a VGA to DVI converter and plugged in my 1440x900 monitor into my DVI port but no matter what I do it won't detect it, I have tried the 1920x1080 monitor in the DVI port and again, no dice. I have tried another VGA to DVI converter which I know works and still the same story, I just want to know if there is any way to get this to work, all my drivers are up to date just in case that information is useful

The graphics card is a Radeon HD 6670 and it is a DVI-I dual link port

Try different VGA cable, to rule out a cable issue.

I know it's not an issue with the cable as I can plug it into my VGA port and it works fine, it's just the DVI-I port which refuses to work, just in case though I used the cable which is currently plugged into my 1920x1080 monitor and it still doesn't work :/

Then it might be a graphics card issue.
